Now that the summer days are here, at least for a while, now is actually a good time to be thinking about making your house warmer and more insulated for the winter.
If you need to hire a professional to do some of the work, such as double glazing in Nottinghamshire or a new heating system in Plymouth, then they are likely to be less busy and more available than they would be in the Winter.
If you are planning on doing the work yourself, it is better to be up in the loft fitting extra insulation while it is warm rather than when it starts to get cold.
There are many things that you can do to make your house toastier this winter. The great thing is that many of the improvements that can be made have three benefits – they save energy, they keep you warmer AND they save you money. This means that even if you have to invest some money to get them done in the first place, the return on investment period should not be too long.
Some of the things you can do may seem obvious but they are often overlooked. Make sure that any external pipes are sealed properly to avoid draughts. Check that windows and doors close properly. Make sure that your curtains are made of a material that insulates and keeps the warmth in.
