It has long been the standing joke of newspapers and comedians that women are utterly and completely incapable of DIY. In fact the female DIY jokes must be up there with the mother-in-law ones (and they aren't very funny either).
The fact is though that times are changing, and there are many women out there who are as talented, if not more so, than their male counterparts. Rather than baking cakes and sewing hems, there are plenty of women out there who are more at home with putting up shelves or fitting office partitioning .
But old prejudices die hard. Many men openly acknowledge that a woman can do a technical job just as well as them, but when it comes down to it, they are still just a little nervous when the woman pilot gets on the plane or the female electrician starts ripping out the wiring system.
However, the trend continues and many DIY stores are starting to cater for women. Let's face it, female and male taste is different, and that doesn't change when it comes to DIY.
Women may not have the same strength as men for a few tasks, but they often have more patience and a more analytical way of thinking. I was also going to say a better eye for design but that is not necessarily so!
